Ukah racially abused in Poland
Ugochukwu Ukah suffered racial abuse from fans after he featured for Jagiellonia Bialystok against Pogon in a league match.
Narrating his ordeal to MTNFootball.com, the Nigeria defender, who has been capped once by his country, said he never expected such a thing but was comforted by an immediate apology.
“I was racially abuse by a fan who went ahead to spit on me. After our game with Pogon I went to where the fans were to appreciate them, but a couple of them refused to shake my hands and instead insulted me and one even spat on me,” he said.
“The police were swift to act and picked out the person who did that. I was not happy with it, but the Mayor of city of Bialystok called me to his office to tender a public apology to me for what happened and assured me the culprit would be charged to court. I was comforted by the city Mayor’s gesture and I won’t let what happened to weigh me down.”
